Did you know that God has a vision for your life?
Don’t get overwhelmed by this idea. His vision for your life is your best. He is your Creator and knows what will make you feel true peace, joy, and freedom. The interesting thing about following God is that the path towards those things is always found in dying to yourself and focusing more on God and others. But, God has a vision for your life.
He desires to see you grow into a person who is more loving and walking in your gifts to serve others more and more as time passes.
This article comes out on the first day of 2026.
A brand new year. So many opportunities. So much room for growth. So many chances for God to show up and get ahold of your life and mold you into the image of His Son more this year.
But… it simply won’t happen by accident.
No one drifts into Christ-likedness. As John Mark Comer puts it, “there are no accidental saints.”
So, the year starts with a question,
Who do you want to be this time next year?
What kind of person do you hope you grow towards in the next 365 days? Do you want to be more loving? More patient? More kind? Do you want to work harder or serve others more?
Whatever goals you may have, they won’t simply just happen. And the devil would love for you to coast and be passive with your growth. So, as we’re sitting on the first day of this brand new year, let’s do the exact opposite. Let’s refuse to coast. Let’s actively pursue who God wants us to become.
I didn’t come up with this idea, but I love it nonetheless. The reality is that who we will be tomorrow is shaped by the decisions we make today. That’s powerful.
So here’s where we will land…
Ask yourself two questions,
“Who do I want to be this time next year?
And what daily steps can I take to actually get there?”
Reflect on that. Pray on that. And step into this New Year with a vision of who God is calling you to be. All of us are called to grow, but it will not happen by accident. How can you grow in your love? Your gifts to serve others with? Your humility? Your discipline? Your confidence? Your identity? What steps can you take today to be even one step closer to the kind of person Jesus is calling you to be this time next year?
When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild.
But whoever obeys the law is joyful.
Proverbs 29:18
